Please can you help us?

Our work depends on sponsorship and donations. To maintain our work we need..

Sponsorship for "day scholars"
Hope and Kindness makes the most impact in the community by providing children from the local community, (day scholars), with a free primary school education and a school feeding program. All of our pupils receive breakfast and lunch at school. This helps them to grow, to be healthy and to concentrate in their lessons. When we are operating at full capacity our primary school will provide places for 270 pupils. Sponsorship of £15 per month will make it possible for another child to benefit from attending our school.

From January 2012 we will also need to find money to pay for school fees for High School and for young people attending our Rural Training Program.

Contact terry@hopeandkindness.org for further information about sponsoring a child.

Funding to run our childrens' home and school
It now costs £3500 per month to run our orphanage and school in Kosele. With rising prices, even more mouths to feed and salaries to pay, adequate funding is increasingly important.

Start up funding for our Rural Training Program
We need to buy land
for the Self Sufficient School that we are planning to start in January 2012. We will also need to build a classroom block, buy tools and employ teachers. Our Rural Training Program will give High School aged young people an opportunity to gain relevant farming and business skills.

Funds to buy land close to the children's home so that we can build more classrooms and support more children by giving them a free education and two square meals a day. Having more land close to the school will allow us to grow food to support the school feeding program. This type of assistance is incredibly valuable in our community! We are the only local school providing this kind of assistance to the pupils.

Financial Support - For providing relief to needy families during the "famine time" that so many of our neighbours experience while they are waiting for crops planted in February/March to grow. This period of hardship isn't front page news in the West but could you imagine having nothing to feed your family with at breakfast, lunch and supper time?

Hope and Kindness has a long standing commitment to building houses for members of the local community. We also pay for rented accomodation for families in need.

Hope and Kindness has also been involved in supporting small business start ups - following the principle of teaching people to fish rather than just giving them a fish to eat. As part of our self-sufficient school and food security program we will continue to encourage the growth of small businesses.

Funds for our vehicle - Our 24 year old Landrover is becoming increasingly expensive to keep on the road because it is so old. We need to raise funds to make sure our transport lifeline remains safe and reliable
